My goal as a teacher is to meet each student where they are in their academic journey and help them get to where they want to go, whether that is to pursue a career in industry or graduate study. I believe every student has the capacity to learn and that it is my job to teach all who enter my classroom. I enjoy teaching at graduate and undergraduate levels, and my student-centered approach creates a welcoming classroom environment where everyone feels included, comfortable communicating, and ready to learn.  

To help students understand the connection between academic theory and communication practice, I also incorporate my own communication management experience – gained from working for more than a decade in corporate America – in the classroom. Students respond well to my instruction as indicated by their evaluations. I love teaching and constantly work to improve my approach to instruction so that my students have a great experience.

In addition to teaching courses, I have also developed several courses during my time at Virginia Tech including Corporate Communications, Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility, Artificial Intelligence, Communication and Social Responsibility and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Ultimately, I am motivated to be the best teacher and advisor that I can be because I have been fortunate to benefit from amazing educators in my life. Every day, I am grateful for the opportunity to share the intellectual gifts that were given to me with others.
