Bio
Dr. Nneka Logan is a professor at the School of Communication at Virginia Tech, where she is Director of Research and Outreach as well as Coordinator of the Public Relations and Advertising Division. Her research and teaching focus on public relations, corporate social responsibility, race, inclusion, artificial intelligence, and rhetorical studies. Her research is published in a variety of prominent academic journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Public Relations Research, New Media & Society, Public Relations Inquiry and Public Relations Review. She has also contributed trade articles to the Institute of Public Relations, PRNews Online.
Prior to pursuing a career in academia, Dr. Logan worked in several corporate communication roles where she managed internal and external communication programs and projects for a multibillion-dollar corporation and its subsidiaries. Her corporate communications work earned several awards from organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and Ragan Communications.
Her academic research also earned several awards from organizations including the National Communication Association (NCA) and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). She was also awarded the prestigious Karen Russell Award of Most Downloaded Article in the Journal of Public Relations Research in 2022 for her article, “A theory of corporate responsibility to race (CRR): Communication and racial justice in public relations.” The CRR theory, introduced in that article, also was named one of the “Top 17 Public Relations Insights of 2021” from the Institute for Public Relations and is the subject of her 2026 book, Public relations and corporate racial responsibility to race.
Committed to engaging in activities that emphasize our shared humanity and harmony among human beings in society, Dr. Logan has served as the Diversity Chair for the PRSA Educators Academy, as Diversity Co-Chair for the Commission on Public Relations Education (CPRE), and as a board member for the Institute for Public Relations (IPR) Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She is passionate about engaging in communication research that connects academic theory to industry practice in ways that positively impact people, organizations, and society.
